Over 60 suspected members of the Islamic State of West Africa (ISWAP) were killed by troops of Operation Hadin Kai after they attempted to infiltrate an army base that was serving as a collation center for the recent governorship and State Assembly elections in Borno state. According to Vanguard, the terrorists invaded Mafa town at 2:00am and were heading towards the military base when they were met with an aggressive counter-attack operation, supported by air taskforce fighter jets. Sources reported that the fighter jets bombarded the fleeing terrorists, killing a large number and leaving a few with fatal wounds. The bodies of 60 of the terrorists were recovered, along with a Hilux vehicle, several weapons and ammunition.
