Dele Momodu, a well-known journalist and politician, has made a surprising claim.

He stated that a past presidential candidate allocated $30,000 per delegate for a total of 774 delegates in the lead-up to the recent presidential election.

This revelation equates to an astonishing $23,220,000 in total for the delegates during the primaries.

Momodu shared this information while expressing his reluctance to seek the presidency in 2027.

During his appearance on the Key to Keys podcast, he recounted spending N50 million in the last election without receiving any votes.

When questioned about his potential candidacy for the presidency again, Momodu remarked: “No, experience is the best teacher. I’ve realized there are some powers, which we might call principalities, that have significant control over Nigeria.”

“Unless a major political party supports me and acknowledges that I am the right choice to lead Nigeria, I would reconsider.”

“However, with the nomination fee reaching around N100 million and my previous expenditure of N50 million for the last nomination form, I see it as a waste; I received not a single vote because the election process was fully monetized.”

“One candidate reportedly spent as much as $30,000 per delegate for the 774 delegates. Competing with that is almost impossible. They have exploited the country for their gain, especially those in wealthy regions.”

“It’s a challenging environment; that’s why they treat Nigerians poorly — due to the vast amounts of cash they flaunt. No other country has such rampant cash control like Nigeria.”

“Much of their wealth isn’t in banks, making it untraceable. A politician could easily gather $500 million to become President. For people like me, where would I even begin? It doesn’t concern me.”
