Charles Owoyemi, a veteran scriptwriter from Nigeria, has passed away. This sad news was confirmed by prominent filmmakers Tunji Bamishigbin Esq and Ralph Nwadike. Owoyemi’s demise occurred on July 19 following a brief period of illness.

According to the filmmakers, Charles Owoyemi contributed significantly to Nigerian television by writing more than 50 scripts for the renowned series “New Village Headmaster” between 1984 and 1990 when the show went on hiatus. Moreover, he was involved in scripting for “Second Chance,” another popular NTA network series. Owoyemi was instrumental in creating the impactful soap opera “Fortunes” on NTA, where he collaborated with Zeb Ejiro from 1993 to 1995.
