Joe Ajaero
The Socio-Economic Rights And Accountability Project, (SERAP) has threatened to drag the Tinubu-led administration to court if the Police Command fails to release Joe Ajaero, the President of the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC.
TORI had earlier reported that Mr Ajaero was on Wednesday, arrested in Imo state shortly after the workers commenced a demonstration against the unfair treatment meted out to the state workers by the Imo state government led by Governor Hope Uzodinma.
Calling for the immediate release of Mr Ajaero in a tweet via its official X handle on Wednesday, the rights organisation warned that it would take legal action against the Tinubu-led government if the police failed to immediately release Mr Ajaero.
“The Tinubu administration should immediately release the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Joe Ajaero, allegedly arrested today in Owerri, Imo State. We’ll take legal action if the authorities fail to release him immediately,” the post by SERAP read.
Recall that Ajaero, had while calling for the demonstration explained that the strike was a protest against the government led by Hope Uzodinma’s discriminatory treatment of Imo State workers.
