A 29-year-old man named John Kiama Wambua is currently in custody after being linked to the murder of his 19-year-old wife in Nairobi, Kenya.
Police officers on a routine patrol stopped Wambua as he walked near Kelly Towers while carrying a heavy backpack that raised suspicion. Upon investigation, the officers discovered human remains inside the bag.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) issued a statement on January 22, confirming that Wambua admitted the body parts belonged to his wife, Joy Fridah Munani.
Wambua guided detectives to his residence, where additional dismembered body parts were located hidden beneath his bed.
“During their early patrols, the Huruma Police Patrol team noticed John Kiama Wambua, who was gripping a heavy backpack strangely,” the DCI reported.
“Fearing he might be involved in illegal activities, the officers searched the bag and found mutilated human remains. Upon questioning, Wambua claimed the remains were those of his wife, Joy Fridah Munani, aged 19.
“Wambua behaved nonchalantly and escorted the officers to his living space, where further body parts were found beneath his bed.
“In the small room, police discovered a bloody floor, and the situation was deemed extremely gruesome. They also found a knife with blood on it and the victim’s clothing stained with blood. Some body parts were reported to be missing.
“The evidence was processed by crime scene investigators, who suspect that the bloodied knife may have been used in the crime.
“Wambua is set to be charged with murder as detectives continue their efforts to find the remaining body parts and understand the motive behind this horrific act.”
