Attack on Katsina Local Government Chairman
On the night of January 28, gunmen stormed the home of Matazu Deyi, who serves as the Chairman of the Malumfashi local government in Katsina State.
Reports indicate that during the assault, Corporal Shamsudeen Lawal, who was part of the chairman’s police escort, was fatally shot. Fortunately, Deyi and his family were present at the time but managed to escape without any injuries.
Witnesses noted that the attack resulted in considerable destruction to the chairman’s residence. This incident highlights the ongoing security challenges faced by the Malumfashi area of Katsina State.
As of now, there has been no statement from the Katsina State Police Command regarding the attack.
