Tragic Incident: Ibadan Man Falls to His Demise in Well Mishap at Age 45

Yemi Akinyinka, the General Manager of the Fire Service, shared these details in a statement provided to journalists in Ibadan.

On Sunday, the Oyo State Fire Service reported the recovery of a deceased 45-year-old man from a well located in the First Women Estate of the Akala area in Ibadan.

Akinyinka mentioned that they received an emergency call about the situation on Friday at 2:11 p.m. from a person named Mr. Yusuf.

Upon receiving the alert, fire officers quickly rushed to the site of the incident.

“When they arrived, they found a man who had become trapped in the well while working below,” he stated.

He confirmed that the remains of the 45-year-old individual were retrieved from the well and returned to his family.

The Fire Service head noted that members of the Amotekun Corps from the Oluyole Command, led by Akanbi Kabiru, were also present at the location to assist.

In a separate incident, Akinyinka mentioned that his team responded to a fire at the Salim Complex in the Alafia Estate of Akobo on Saturday.

This fire was triggered by an electrical surge, impacting one unit of a twin two-bedroom flat in the area.

Thanks to the prompt action of his team, the fire was contained before it could spread to other parts of the structure, and fortunately, there were no injuries reported.

He urged the public to remember to turn off and unplug electrical devices when they are not in use.
