A serious accident occurred on Wednesday morning at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas, where a Tesla Cybertruck unexpectedly exploded, leading to the death of its driver.
According to Sheriff Kevin McMahill from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, seven people nearby suffered minor injuries due to the explosion, which took place near the hotel’s entrance.
“Currently, there isn’t any ongoing threat to our community,” McMahill stated during a press briefing.
This tragic incident arose just after heightened security measures were implemented in response to a deadly terror attack in New Orleans on New Year’s Day, which claimed 10 lives and injured over 30 others, causing authorities in Las Vegas to remain vigilant.

“We are aware of the unfortunate events in New Orleans and the high number of victims involved, along with other potential explosives. Hence, following such an explosion on the famed Las Vegas Boulevard, we are implementing all necessary safety measures for our community,” McMahill added.
The Tesla Cybertruck, unveiled in 2019, is the company’s first truck model featuring a battery-electric configuration. Its unique design has garnered significant attention for its futuristic, industrial look.
CEO Elon Musk has previously praised the vehicle’s strength, highlighting its “bulletproof” stainless-steel body and virtually unbreakable glass. Nevertheless, the Cybertruck’s durability is now being questioned after this incident, which has prompted an ongoing investigation by local officials.
“This morning, a fire involving an electric vehicle was reported in the porte cochère of Trump Las Vegas. The safety and well-being of our guests and staff are of utmost importance to us.
