A tragic event has occurred in the Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State, where a 2-year-old girl has been reported as a victim of a fatal assault.
The incident was confirmed by SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, a spokesperson for the police, in a statement released on November 5, 2024.
It was revealed that the child’s body was discovered abandoned beside a mosque, showing indications of an assault.
A medical evaluation indicated that the toddler sustained severe injuries from the incident, which ultimately resulted in her death.
Furthermore, Wakil noted that the Commissioner of Police has initiated a thorough investigation into this horrific crime.
“On November 5, 2024, the Ningi Police Division received a report about a lifeless body of a two-year-old being found near a mosque on Deneva Street, suspected of having been assaulted,” the statement detailed.
“Following the report, investigators were sent to the scene, and the child’s remains were taken to the General Hospital in Ningi. There, medical professionals confirmed that the child had sustained critical injuries due to the assault, which led to her untimely death.
“The state police commissioner, CP Auwal Musa Mohammed, has condemned this dreadful act and instructed the Divisional Police Officer to intensify efforts in locating those responsible and ensuring they face justice.
“He urged parents and guardians to be vigilant about their children’s safety and to prevent them from roaming the streets unsupervised.
“The police command is now appealing to the community for any information that could assist in the capture and prosecution of the offenders.”
