The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has captured Kehinde Yemitan, who is suspected of ritualistic activities and is the twin brother of Taiwo Yemitan. Taiwo was previously arrested with a fresh head and dismembered body parts of a woman.
It was noted that on December 22, 2024, police arrested Taiwo at his home near Atinsola petrol station in the Abeokuta area. He confessed to bringing a victim named Darasimi to his home, where he, his twin brother Kehinde, and another accomplice named Kazeem killed her.
According to SP Omolola Odutola, a spokesperson for the police command, Kehinde was arrested on December 31 after authorities received a tip-off that he was hiding in the Ilogbo community.
Odutola emphasized the importance of advising young women about the dangers of engaging in hookup culture.
The Public Relations Officer further encouraged women to seek more sustainable ways to earn a living.
“On December 30, 2024, at about 5:00 PM, the Divisional Police Officer of Sango Ota acted on a tip-off regarding Kehinde Yemitian’s location in Ilogbo community,” the statement detailed.
“The police began searching for Kehinde due to his connection to the murder and decapitation of a woman named Darasimi on December 22, 2024, when his twin brother Taiwo and Kazeem were arrested after luring Darasimi, a night sex worker, to their home for ritualistic purposes.
“Upon receiving the information, a surveillance team, alongside the So Safe Corps, quickly mobilized and captured the suspect.
“He initially confessed to having conspired with others in the crime in Abeokuta.
“Moreover, several local residents corroborated his involvement in illicit activities.”
“Kehinde Yemitian has now been moved to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough investigation.
“The Ogun State Police Command continues to raise public consciousness about the risks tied to hookup culture, emphasizing the need for caution among young women engaging in casual encounters for financial gains, and encourages them to consider steadier income sources.
“Further updates will be shared as they arise. We urge young females to learn from this tragic incident and remain vigilant to avoid becoming victims of similar crimes.”
