Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has refuted allegations linking him to the sponsorship of ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests nationwide.

Recent claims hinted at Bello’s involvement in the protests against hunger in the country, but in a statement released and signed by Michael Ohiare, the ex-governor asserted that such accusations were part of a scheme to tarnish his image.

The statement, made public in Lokoja, disclosed, “We have discovered a plot by some enemies of the nation and individuals aiming to discredit Yahaya Bello, through the ongoing #Endbadgovernance protests in the country.

“Addressing the unfounded allegations from an individual seeking attention, spreading false information to implicate Alhaji Yahaya Bello in the ongoing protests, was crucial,” the statement continued.

The statement criticized the claims as “baseless and malicious,” emphasizing that the ex-governor was a loyal citizen who had dedicated efforts towards a more unified and prosperous Nigeria.

It highlighted Bello’s positive role in resolving a potential crisis between northern and southern food transporters, which could have escalated to a significant national conflict.

“Yahaya Bello defused a potential threat to our unity by successfully mediating between transporters from the North and South, averting a food exchange disruption that earned him accolades from national leaders,” the statement added.

The statement further praised Bello’s support for President Bola Tinubu and recounted his involvement in key interventions that safeguarded the nation’s stability during critical periods.
