Yahaya Bello
Yahaya Bello, the former governor of Kogi State, has agreed to meet with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
On August 20, a court in Abuja directed Bello to present himself for EFCC’s arraignment.
Following his noncompliance with multiple court directives, the EFCC declared him wanted and issued an arrest warrant.
Bello, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), is facing numerous allegations including 19 counts of money laundering, breach of trust, and misappropriation of about N80.2 billion in public funds, as claimed by the EFCC.
His media office indicated on Wednesday that Bello’s decision to respond to the EFCC’s invitation followed consultations with his family, legal team, and political partners.
In April, the EFCC had placed him on a wanted list after he ignored several summons and resisted arrest.
