2028 UEFA European Championship: Details on Dates, Locations, and Hosts

Euro trophy

The 2028 UEFA European Championship will be hosted jointly by the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland, following the successful 2024 tournament held in Germany.

Since the year 2000, four out of seven editions of the tournament have been hosted by two countries jointly, or as seen in Euro 2020, across multiple European nations.

After a bidding process, UEFA decided that the Euro 2028 tournament would be a collaborative effort between the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland, following the withdrawal of bids from other countries like Spain and Portugal.

The UK/Ireland bid was selected as the ideal option for hosting the event in four years.

Hosts of Euro 2028: Venue Information

Euro 2028 will take place in all four nations of the U.K. – England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland – along with matches in the Republic of Ireland.

The specific match locations will be determined later, but most games will be held in England, with six out of the ten chosen stadiums located there.

England has previously hosted major football events like the 1966 FIFA World Cup, Euro ’96, and the 2021 Euros final at Wembley Stadium.

Date and Schedule for Euro 2028

Euro 2028 will follow the traditional schedule of June and July, with final dates expected to be announced by the end of 2026.

The organizers have announced the selection of 10 stadiums to host games during the Euro 2028 tournament, including five current Premier League venues.

National team home stadiums will be used for Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland, while redevelopment plans for Casement Park could see it hosting Northern Ireland matches.

Everton’s new stadium, set for completion in 2025, will also be part of the hosting venues.
