Barcelona Sets Sights on Swedish Sensation as Lewandowski’s Successor

Barcelona targets Swedish star as long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski image

Barcelona is reportedly interested in Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP as a potential future star for their attack, hoping he can eventually replace Robert Lewandowski.

Recent information from Fichajes indicates that the club believes the 26-year-old Swedish forward could usher in a new chapter for Barcelona, especially alongside rising talent such as Lamine Yamal.

Gyokeres has been making waves in European football, scoring an impressive 16 goals in just 10 Liga Portugal matches this season, on top of his outstanding performance last year with 29 goals and 10 assists.

His recent hat-trick against Manchester City in the Champions League has further established him as a top player in the forward position.

Although his release clause is set at €100 million ($107m), Barcelona is exploring innovative solutions to manage the financial aspects of the transfer. They might propose including young Brazilian talent Vitor Roque, who was previously evaluated by Sporting for €30 million ($32m).

Moreover, Barcelona holds a 50% sell-on clause for former player Francisco Trincao, now with Sporting. By incorporating Roque and this sell-on clause, the club aims to significantly lower the cost to acquire Gyokeres.

Which other clubs are interested in Viktor Gyokeres?

Barcelona is not alone in its pursuit of Gyokeres, as several prominent European teams are also in the race.

Manchester United, now led by manager Ruben Amorim, is eager to bolster its forward lineup after inadequate performances from Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Amorim’s presence could play a crucial role in convincing Gyokeres to join Manchester United.

Additionally, both Manchester City and Bayern Munich are keeping a close eye on the striker, indicating a highly competitive transfer scenario ahead.
