Cole Palmer has achieved a significant milestone by winning another award, bringing him closer to Chelsea legend Frank Lampard.
This week, fans recognized Palmer as the England Player of the Year, following his performance in the Euro 2024 final against Spain.
The talented former Manchester City player also earned the Premier League Player of the Month award for September.
During September, he scored four goals and provided five assists, notably contributing to a remarkable 4-2 win over Brighton at Stamford Bridge.
This marks the second time this year that the 22-year-old has been honored with this monthly award, besting other nominees like Harvey Barnes, Luis Diaz, Gabriel, Ryan Gravenberch, Raul Jimenez, Dwight McNeil, and Ollie Watkins.
Palmer’s achievements now align him with Frank Lampard, becoming only the second Chelsea player to receive the award multiple times; Lampard is the club’s leading goal scorer and accumulated four such honors throughout his career.
Additionally, Chelsea’s head coach Enzo Maresca was recognized as Manager of the Month, completing a successful month for the club.
During September, his team drew with Crystal Palace but secured wins against Bournemouth, West Ham, and Brighton, maintaining an unbeaten streak over four matches.
“It was a very positive month for us,” Maresca commented. “I value the support from my staff, which is crucial for our success.”
He added, “We constantly explore new strategies and learn from different football cultures to enhance our game.”
Maresca becomes the first Chelsea manager to win this accolade since Thomas Tuchel, who led the team to win the Champions League in October 2021.
