Deciding Copa America 2024 Groups in Case of a Tie
In case of teams finishing with an equal number of points in the Copa America 2024 group stage, CONMEBOL has outlined several criteria to establish the tiebreaker:
1. Goal difference in all group matches where the team with the better goal difference advances, which is calculated by subtracting goals conceded from goals scored.
2. Total number of goals scored in all group matches to determine the stronger team.
3. Head-to-head record in matches between tied teams in the group stage, with various sub-criteria to decide the best team.
- Points obtained in head-to-head matches
- Goal difference in head-to-head matches
- Total goals scored in head-to-head matches
4. Red cards received by the teams will be considered.
5. The number of yellow cards accumulated by the teams.
