Fear and tension have gripped Ado-Ekiti residents as gunmen fatally shot a middle-aged woman once again on a Saturday morning.
The tragic incident occurred near the Federal Polytechnic’s Continuing Education Center, off NTA road, Ado Ekiti, around 7 am, as reported by Daily Post.
This recent shooting adds to a series of similar incidents where at least four individuals have been shot dead by gunmen in Ado-Ekiti in recent weeks.
Witnesses stated that the attackers arrived on a motorcycle and tried to snatch the woman’s bag while she was standing by the roadside.
The victim resisted the robbery attempt but was overpowered and fatally shot, causing panic in the area as onlookers fled to safety and shop owners hastily closed their shops.
Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Sunday Abutu, indicated that the motive appeared to be robbery, with approximately forty thousand, two hundred and eighty naira found in the woman’s bag.
The deceased’s body has been taken to the morgue, and law enforcement is actively pursuing the perpetrators.
