On Wednesday, Alhaji Bako Bala, who was the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Suru Local Government Area, Kebbi state, was tragically kidnapped and killed by armed individuals.
The incident was reported via a post on the official Facebook account of Alhaji Zaidu Bala Kofa Sabuwa, Special Adviser to the Kebbi Governor. It was detailed that the gunmen abducted Bala in his hometown, where they shot him before leaving him severely injured.
Although he was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kebbi, Bala unfortunately did not survive and was declared dead on the same day.
Kidnapping for ransom has become increasingly prevalent in Kebbi State, with criminal groups operating despite the state’s efforts to combat these crimes and rescue those who have been taken.
