Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.

We at Fodor’s are rounding up the good news to distract you from the bad. From boozy elephants to a drone-led dog-walk, these are the things that made us smile today.

Cyprus Takes a Stab at Wag! Walking

This past week scientists discovered that your dog cannot contract the coronavirus, disproving previous reports and concerns that they could, a message one man in Israel apparently did not receive. Seen walking his dog via drone, this pet-parent social-distanced.

Even though walking his dog is totally safe, maybe we don’t tell him, because this video is too cute, and his dog seems to love it just as much as we do.

A Birthday Surprise That Has Us in Tears

It’s not exactly a great month for those born in March, as few birthdays are best spent indoors and alone, but one woman’s neighbors found the solution.

Surprising one 80-year-old birthday girl in Madrid via the most wholesome ding-dong ditch to date, these neighbors delivered a cake and song! This heartwarming video is the solution to dry-eyes.

Happiness Is the Wind in My Hair and the TV Between My Toes

When one couples-cruise got canceled, they had to think outside of the box: How do you turn self-isolation into a relaxing get-away? What resulted is this heart-warming video.

While their staycation does not include the amenities and excursions they would have gotten aboard, it, unlike other cruises, tests negative for coronavirus.

Grocers Around the World Lead by Example

In news we could never have expected to report on months ago, grocery stores around the world are leading the way in doing the right thing. In the United States, Minnesota and Vermont grocers have been declared emergency workers, their service critical during this pandemic. Not only that, but those with small ones at home will also now have access to free child-care.

Way to go Minnesota and Vermont!

And as seen in this video, an Australian grocery-store chain has allotted time for the elderly and disabled to safely shop.

Australia is not the only country offering these special hours, with many chains in the U.S. doing the same.

INSIDER TIPCheck with your local grocery store to see if they’re offering these special hours. If they are not and you are in a position (young and in good health) to offer your services to the elderly around you, consider asking for their grocery list and doing the run for them.

A Herd of Elephants Indulging in the Finer Things

Self-isolation has not been a bad thing for these 14 elephants who, when wandering into town, found more than just food. With no humans around to shoo them away, this herd drank all the corn wine they could get their trunks on.

A bit of wine and then a nap? We’re thinking this group has unlocked the secret to a successful and happy quarantine.

Check-in every day for an update on the wonderful and weird things happening in our current coronavirus world.
