Recently, tourism representatives from Vietnam’s Thua Thien, Da Nang, and Quang Nam provinces initiated a promotional event in Melbourne, Australia. This effort is aimed at improving relationships and increasing tourist inflow from Australia to Central Vietnam.
This event is part of a larger strategy to promote the “Miraculous Heritage Region” brand, which seeks to establish Central Vietnam as an attractive destination for tourists interested in eco-tourism, beach holidays, and cultural experiences.
Truong Hong Hanh, the head of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, highlighted the new direct flight options between Australia and Central Vietnam. She believes this will make the region more appealing for Australian travelers, expressing optimism for a rise in visitor numbers.
During the event, numerous promotional activities took place. These included networking sessions for businesses, screening promotional videos that showcased the region’s natural landscapes and cultural sites, and discussions aimed at increasing tourism collaboration between Australia and Central Vietnam.
A total of 27 businesses from Central Vietnam showcased new tourism offerings meant for Australian travelers. These included eco-friendly resorts, adventure tourism packages, and cultural experiences tailored to meet the interests of visitors from Australia.
In the wake of the Melbourne event, tourism officials from the three provinces have planned a similar event called “Heritage Journey” in Sydney. This aims to further promote Central Vietnam and establish stronger partnerships with Australian tourism operators.
Nguyen Thanh Hong, director of Quang Nam’s tourism department, emphasized the collaborative nature of the branding initiative among the provinces.
He stated, “The ‘Miraculous Heritage Region’ brand reflects our joint effort to enhance Central Vietnam’s profile on the international stage, showcasing the area’s rich cultural history and stunning natural beauty.”
Nguyen Van Phuc, director of Thua Thien’s tourism department, pointed out the significant rise in Australian visitors. “In the first seven months of 2024, we recorded a nearly 120% increase in Australian tourists compared to 2019, which was previously a peak year for international tourism in our region,” he noted.
Australia has now become one of the top ten international markets for tourism to Central Vietnam, with around 165,000 Australian tourists visiting the provinces of Thua Thien, Da Nang, and Quang Nam in just the first seven months of 2024.
With the ongoing success of the “Miraculous Heritage Region” initiative, Central Vietnam is expected to attract even more visitors from Australia, as it continues to enhance its tourism offerings and foster its connections with global markets.
