Deji Adeyanju Critiques Burna Boy’s Generosity
Nigerian attorney and activist Deji Adeyanju has taken a jab at renowned musician Burna Boy.
This came after Burna Boy reportedly donated $30,000 to someone claiming to be connected to socialite Cubana Chief Priest.
It was noted that the funds were given amidst an online dispute between Burna Boy and the socialite.
Cubana Chief Priest has stated that the recipient is not his relative, yet Burna Boy’s actions have ignited much discussion on social media.
Adeyanju expressed his thoughts online, suggesting that Burna Boy has relatives in need yet chooses not to assist them.
He remarked: “The person who gave $30k for attention has more people in need among his relatives than in Chief Priest’s family.”
“And the individual isn’t even Chief Priest’s brother. But even if he were, why hasn’t he helped him?”
“Sometimes, giving money isn’t beneficial.”
Social Media Reactions
Responses to this situation have been varied:
@mummy_z523 commented: “We encourage being supportive and kind, but when it involves family, it often feels like entitlement. In Africa, supporting our families is paramount, and one prosperous member can uplift the whole family. Is ‘family first’ now just about immediate family?”
@omoopee added: “Helping others shouldn’t be solely for visibility. Donating $30k has the potential to transform lives—this reflects a generous spirit. Instead of criticizing, let’s promote a culture of uplifting others, as it can foster growth opportunities.”
They also noted that amidst difficulties in Nigeria, spending $30k for clout seems excessive, especially when numerous orphanages in need could benefit significantly from just a fraction of that amount. “Not judging, it’s his choice. But wow, $30k for attention?”
@onyeoma_iyke expressed: “This whole situation is quite exhausting.”
