Frank Edoho, the longtime host of the hit game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire (WWTBAM), has disclosed that allegations regarding domestic violence almost led to him losing his job.

Previously married to Katherine Obiang for seven years, they share three children.

During an episode of the WithChude podcast on Saturday, Edoho candidly discussed the difficulties in his former marriage, labeling their partnership as a “mismatch” and acknowledging the shared responsibility for their issues.

“My ex-wife was my friend and we had children. Our relationship was misaligned; I was young. When she became pregnant, I hesitated but went ahead with the marriage. After seven years, I left in 2010, and remarried three years later,” he shared.

Delving into their bond, he added, “Just because you’re friends with someone of the opposite sex doesn’t mean you should marry them; it’s a completely different concept. Looking back, I may have needed to consider this more carefully.

“We were good friends, and there was love involved. However, I feel we didn’t fully understand each other before committing. I won’t blame only her; I also played a part, but not in the way people suggested.”

Post-separation, rumors about domestic violence began to emerge, which Edoho revealed posed a serious threat to his position on the show.

“That period was one of my lowest points, and I felt unable to speak out. The first major incident occurred in 2007, yet I continued for another three years until I left in 2010,” he explained.

The allegations intensified to attract the attention of the show’s sponsors.

Edoho recounted, “After I left, I was still hosting Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. However, while in the UK, my boss called and asked me to return to Lagos due to concerns from the sponsors about my situation.

“They informed me that I could no longer present the show due to those rumors. The next morning, I flew back for a meeting.”

“Fortunately, my boss was already aware of everything since I had shared details with him about our disputes. I was also thinking of my children. The accusations depicted me as abusive and violent.

“In the meeting, I explained my side of the story starting from our dating years. By the time I got to discussing our marriage and children, two of the women present were in tears.

“I recounted everything and mentioned that I possessed evidence. I clarified that no one divorced me; I chose to leave the marriage with my belongings.”

Frank Edoho has since moved forward and remarried. He tied the knot with his second wife, Sandra Onyenuchenuya, on April 2, 2014.
