An Area Court located in Centre-Igboro, Ilorin, Kwara State, has awarded custody of four children to Olomu Ajibola, allowing her to take care of them.
While making the decision, Judge Hammad Ajumonbi emphasized that a mother should never be denied access to her children, regardless of the father holding custody rights.
The father, Mr. Ajibola, filed for divorce and custody on April 16 due to disputes with his wife, which she accepted. However, she claimed that since then, she had been denied visitation with their children.
In light of the facts presented, Magistrate Ajumonbi granted custody to the mother, as the father failed to present any evidence to the contrary.
The court declared that the father would maintain unrestricted access to the children and must ensure their basic needs are met, including food, educational fees, medical care, and general welfare.
“The parents must not take the children outside of the court’s jurisdiction without mutual consent,” the judge specified.
Furthermore, he stated that the mother’s custody would terminate if she chooses to remarry.
