A local resident recounted the tragic loss of her family during a military airstrike in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The bereaved woman, who chose to remain anonymous, shared with BBC Hausa the heartbreaking details of how her father, mother, and three younger brothers perished in the attack.

She expressed her grief, saying, “I witnessed them burning—my mother, my father, and my three younger brothers.”

Another local, Usman Manuga, described the harrowing scene: “After the Fajr (early morning) prayer, we saw planes overhead. Then, moments later, bombs fell, and everything ignited.”

This airstrike, conducted by a Nigerian military aircraft, aimed to target suspected militants in the vicinity. However, the outcome was devastating, resulting in civilian casualties, injuries, and significant losses among local livestock.
