Popular influencer, Suraj Oyewale, known as Sir Jarus, revealed that the court case filed against him by the Lagos State government’s Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency concerning allegations of beating his wife has been dismissed. The court set conditions for him to undergo counseling and use his platform to advocate against domestic violence.
Sir Jarus admitted on social media to assaulting his first wife, Mrs. Oyewale Ayoola, which attracted significant backlash. Subsequently, he was arrested and charged with assault and behavior likely to cause a breach of peace.
Addressing the court’s decision, Sir Jarus emphasized the importance of resolving marital disputes amicably and with patience. As part of the conditions, he will abstain from Twitter for a month and focus on promoting positive messages against domestic violence.
