A 22-year-old named Idowu Oguntuase lost his life at the hands of suspected kidnappers in Ekiti State.
On Sunday, September 22, 2024, armed men also kidnapped four others on the Isan-Iludun Ekiti road in the Ilejemeje local government area.
Reports indicate that Idowu was driving for the Ekiti State Commissioner for Local Government when he was shot during the attack while traveling with the victims.
The Ekiti State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Sunday Abutu, affirmed the news on Thursday, stating that the kidnapped individuals were successfully rescued alive.
Abutu mentioned ongoing efforts to apprehend the suspects involved in this crime.
In response to the incident, Hon. Princess Iyabo Fakunle-Okieimen, the representative for Ilejemeje Constituency, brought the matter to the attention of the State Assembly, condemning the violent event.
The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, along with other assembly members, expressed their condolences regarding Idowu Oguntuase’s tragic death and extended sympathies to his family and the Ilejemeje community.
