Tragic Incident Over Debt in Ondo
A man named Monday Chukwu, aged 34, has been detained by the police in Ondo state for allegedly killing his friend, Kefa Ofando, over a debt of 2,000 Naira.
According to reports, the dispute between Chukwu and Ofando escalated during a conversation about the debt, resulting in a physical altercation. Chukwu stabbed Ofando in the neck at Akintola village, located in the Odigbo local government area.
During a press conference, State Commissioner of Police, Oladipo Abayomi, noted that what began as a simple disagreement tragically ended with the death of Ofando.
“On September 20, 2024, police officers from the Ondo State Command responded promptly to a report and arrested Monday Chukwu, a resident of Akintola village,” he stated. “The investigation revealed that the victim had borrowed the suspect 2,000 Naira.”
A few days later, when the suspect sought repayment, an argument ensued that led to the violent act where Chukwu used scissors to stab Ofando in the neck.
Upon arrival at the scene, forensic experts found a pair of scissors, and a medical professional later confirmed that Kefa Ofando had died.
The investigation is ongoing, and Chukwu is expected to face charges in court soon. This event highlights the dangers posed by violent behavior and the significance of managing anger and conflicts peacefully.
