Accusations Against PDP Leadership
Ikenga Ugochinyere, the representative for Ideato North and South in Imo State, has claimed that Umar Damagum, the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is being manipulated by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.
As a member of the PDP, Ugochinyere insists that Wike is a significant contributor to the ongoing crisis in Rivers State.
He expressed that if Damagum were genuinely committed to resolving the issues in Rivers, he would have challenged Wike’s actions.
In his statement on Thursday, Ugochinyere, who speaks for the Opposition Coalition, suggested that Damagum appears indifferent to the crisis affecting Rivers State.
“The PDP is struggling under the influence of a political pawn aligned with the APC, especially due to the lack of resistance from our party’s leadership against these influences,” he asserted.
“While individuals supporting Wike, who also claim to be PDP members, are undermining the party’s efforts in Rivers, one key figure, Damagum, remains quiet, failing to defend our interests. His silence is a clear indication that he is under the thumb of Wike and neglects the party’s integrity, even if it leads to further turmoil in Rivers. But no matter their efforts, we remain steadfast,” Ugochinyere continued.
He further remarked via his social media: “It’s time for the PDP to cease coddling these disruptors; an emergency meeting should be convened to decisively address this situation. The party can reclaim its integrity without fear. We are prepared for any legal challenges ahead, but immediate action is essential.”
