Liverpool’s Stance on January Transfers Amid Successful Start

Liverpool has clarified its position regarding potential player sales during the January transfer window, as Arne Slot’s team is off to a stellar start in the 2024/25 season.

The Dutch manager has made an impressive debut, leading the squad to eight victories in their first ten matches of the Premier League and winning all four games in the UEFA Champions League.

Currently, the Reds sit at the top of both competitions, holding a two-point advantage over Manchester City in the Premier League and Sporting CP in the Champions League.

Additionally, the club is focused on contract negotiations, particularly for key players like Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah.

These players have been instrumental in Slot’s early success, and negotiations are underway to secure their futures, as they each enter the final six months of their contracts in early 2025.

If no agreements are reached, they could discuss free transfers with non-Premier League clubs, although they cannot leave before the season ends.

The club has been discreet about the negotiations, but despite January being the last opportunity to secure transfer fees for these players, they will not be letting anyone go.

According to a report from Football Insider, Liverpool is aware of Real Madrid’s rumored interest in Alexander-Arnold and the increasing interest from the Saudi Pro League in Salah, yet they are determined to keep their squad intact.

Slot is eager to maintain the current team until at least the season’s conclusion, ensuring players like Federico Chiesa and Wataru Endo remain part of the roster, regardless of their playing time.
