Videos circulating online show Trademore Estate in Abuja, located along the Lugbe-Airport Expressway, inundated with floodwater after heavy rainfall.
Reports suggest that two individuals were reportedly swept away by the flood, as depicted in the circulating videos on social media.
This is not the first instance of Trademore Estate being submerged by floodwaters. In June 2023, the estate experienced a similar fate when heavy rains caused flooding, resulting in over 100 houses being submerged.
The flooding was attributed to violations in the water channel infrastructure within the estate, exacerbating the impact of the deluge.
In response to the 2023 flood, the Federal Capital Territory Administration designated the estate as a disaster area, while the Federal Government contemplated demolishing the affected structures.
