Abductors Demand ₦900 Million Ransom for Mother of Popular Hausa Singer, Rarara
The criminals who kidnapped Hajiya Hauwa’u Adamu, the mother of well-known Hausa singer, Dauda Adamu, also known as Rarara, are asking for a ransom of ₦900 million in exchange for her freedom.
Rarara’s mother was taken from her residence in Kahutu village, situated in the Danja local government area of Katsina State.
Reports from Daily Trust reveal that a source familiar with the situation shared that the abductors contacted the family, demanding ₦1 billion as ransom before eventually agreeing to lower it to ₦900 million.
The source mentioned that Rarara has been unwell since his mother’s abduction.
He explained, “They called the family using a phone taken from a woman that the bandits took when they kidnapped Hajiya. They initially asked for ₦1 billion but negotiated down to ₦900 million after a conversation with a family member.”.
“Initially, they wanted Rarara to finalize the agreement due to his health issues after his mother’s abduction. However, they decided to negotiate with another family member. They assured the family that Hajiya is safe and will be released once the ransom is paid.
“The discussion between the bandits and the family was brief, and no further calls have been received. Nevertheless, negotiations are believed to be ongoing. Thus, the family is awaiting the bandits’ next communication to proceed with discussions.”
Detailing the abduction of the prominent singer’s mother, the source disclosed that the operation was meticulously planned, with the kidnappers carrying Hajiya’s photo to avoid any mistaken identity.
The source added, “We understand that upon entering her room, they woke all the women sleeping with her and compared their faces to the photograph.
“Once they identified her, they demanded money. She showed them a small amount in her bedside drawer, which was insufficient. Subsequently, they informed her that they would take her with them and she complied without objection.”
