President Bola Tinubu sends his congratulations to Afam Osigwe, the newly-elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
The congratulatory message was announced in a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale.
It was titled ‘President Tinubu congratulates NBA President-elect, Afam Josiah Osigwe.’
Osigwe, a former general secretary of the NBA, emerged victorious in the 2024 NBA election, conducted online from 12:00 am Saturday to 11.59 pm.
After the final vote count announced on Sunday, Osigwe led with over 20,000 votes, surpassing his two main competitors.
His closest rival, Tobenna Erojikwe, Chairman of the NBA-Institute of Continuing Legal Education Governing Council, received 10,998 votes, while former NBA Lagos Branch Chairman, Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), got 9,018 votes.
Ngelale mentioned, “The President also congratulates all newly elected officers of the NBA and members of the association on a successful conduct of the elections. President Tinubu also praises the outgoing NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), for leading Nigeria’s leading legal association.”
He pledged his administration’s support to the new NBA leadership in dealing with the challenges that affect the association and the legal profession in general.
