The military operation targeting bandits in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State was successful in neutralizing a significant number of bandits during coordinated attacks.
Reports indicate that troops from Operation Whirl Punch executed ground and air strikes that effectively eliminated bandits and some of their leaders at a meeting point near Bula community within Yadi Forest in Giwa LGA.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, disclosed this information, stating that credible intelligence guided the strike following recent eliminations of bandit leaders along the Kaduna-Katsina border.
According to the intelligence, the bandits were planning a meeting for a lethal operation within the Yadi Forest vicinity.
“Continuous surveillance identified armed bandits on motorcycles heading towards the location at the scheduled time.
“Further observation confirmed the gathering of about seven to ten bandits at a central point in the area.
“Upon verification, a precise strike was executed, resulting in the neutralization of numerous bandits, including Alhaji Kachalla Ragas, an associate of the previously eliminated Buharin Yadi,” he explained.
Upon receiving the report, Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, praised the security forces for their swift response, dedicated work, and accurate operation.
The Governor extended his gratitude to the sources that provided essential intelligence leading to the successful operation.
