Witnesses shared details of the incident that occurred when a two-storey residential building collapsed in Kubwa, Abuja, on Saturday.
In a video posted by NTA on X.com, Amaka Agha, an eyewitness, narrated, “This morning around 7 am, we heard a rumbling sound, and I assumed it was from the neighboring compound. When we went outside, there was chaos. I saw the collapsed building in the front and at the back of my house, everything had fallen.”
Agha added, “Efforts are being made to rescue people. FERMA and the Fire Service have been contacted. Some individuals have been rescued, and they are still working on saving others.”
Another witness, Ella Onyeke, mentioned that a resident had noticed a crack in the building on Friday and had evacuated with his family.
Onyeke explained, “Yesterday, a man residing in the building left after noticing a crack. He vacated with his family.
“At 5 am today, some occupants noted the building was shifting. A few left and tried to alert others living there.”
Efforts are ongoing to rescue any potential survivors at the scene.
