A successful military operation by the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) led to the capture of two notorious terrorists in Taraba State. The Brigade’s Public Relations Officer, Oni Olubodunde, revealed that this accomplishment was the result of a fierce confrontation with the terrorists on 11 July 2024.

According to a statement released to the press in the state on Sunday, the encounter occurred at Geshi Village along the Rafin Kada road in Damisa Ward of Donga Local Government Council. The operation also resulted in the recovery of two motorcycles used by the criminals.

The troops stationed in Akate in Donga Local Government Area swiftly responded to intelligence reports indicating an impending attack by armed terrorists in Geshi Village. They engaged the armed men in a fierce gun battle, ultimately overpowering them with superior firepower. The criminals fled into the bush with gunshot wounds, but two terrorists were captured along with their motorcycles and are currently in custody for interrogation.

Brigadier Kingsley Uwa, the Brigade Commander, commended the troops for their courage, prompt action, and commitment to duty. He urged them to continue their efforts to eliminate criminal elements that threaten the peace and security of the state.

He emphasized the Brigade’s determination to eradicate kidnapping, banditry, and other forms of criminality in Taraba State while urging the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.

Additionally, during a routine patrol in the Jalingo metropolis, soldiers from Headquarters 6 Brigade discovered a 9-year-old pupil named Dorothy Kwatsumen wandering around in her school uniform in the Gongomaliki area of Yorro council.

Efforts to identify her school and locate her parents or guardians were unsuccessful initially. The girl, identified as a student of Glory Children Academy, was taken to Brigade headquarters until her family could be located. She has since been reunited with her family.
