Governor Agbu Kefas
Jumai Kefas, the mother of Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State, along with her daughter Atsi, was reportedly attacked by masked assailants.
This unfortunate incident took place on Kente Road within Wukari Local Government Area.
Dauda Samaila Agbu, the chairman of the Wukari council, confirmed the incident and expressed his deep concern over the attack.
He described the incident as “very distressing” and mentioned that Atsi Kefas sustained a gunshot wound, which initially required treatment at the Federal Teaching Hospital in Wukari before she was airlifted to Abuja for advanced medical care.
“Her condition was stabilized before she was flown to Abuja for further treatment,” he informed Daily Post.
The council chairman urged the community to remain calm and assured them that actions are being implemented to apprehend those responsible for the incident.
The Taraba State Police Command also verified the occurrence through its spokesperson, Usman Abdullahi.
He classified the incident as a case of armed robbery but did not confirm any connections between the victims and the governor.
According to the police spokesperson, one individual in the vehicle was reported to have sustained gunshot injuries.
At the time of writing, the state government had yet to issue an official statement regarding the assault.
