Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has denounced the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and the leadership of Bola Tinubu, attributing the deteriorating economic conditions in Nigeria to their governance.
Atiku emphasized that the current hardships faced by Nigerians surpass those experienced during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
In a statement conveyed by his Media Adviser, Paul Ibe, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed disappointment that it took public protests for the government to acknowledge the severe struggles of the citizens.
He criticized the lack of readiness for governance exhibited by the APC administration, highlighting that if they have not yet acknowledged the significant hardships faced by Nigerians, it indicates a lack of preparedness from the beginning.
Atiku pointed out the economic challenges and issues of nepotism and corruption that prevailed during the Buhari administration and criticized the current situation under Tinubu, referring to it as “Buhari pro-max.”
He questioned the government’s ability to reduce the costs of essential food items while farmers still face insecurity that prevents them from returning to their farms.
Regarding the Dangote Refinery, Atiku raised concerns about the administration’s lack of progress in meeting domestic needs and leveraging exports for foreign exchange.
He speculated on possible partnerships with foreign interests that may have jeopardized investments and lamented the absence of tangible solutions to address the nation’s challenges.
