Governor Babajide Sanwo Olu of Lagos State has decided to suspend his Senior Special Assistant for Print Media, Mr. Wale Ajetunmobi.

This was confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday morning by Gboyega Akosile, the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

The decision to suspend Ajetunmobi was triggered by a misrepresentation of facts regarding a previous event that he shared on his personal “X” account.

“The Governor clearly emphasizes that his administration opposes any form of extrajudicial punishment and will not engage in such practices. This is not our stance or approach,” the statement emphasized.

On Monday, the Lagos State House of Assembly discussed the ₦3.005 trillion appropriation bill for 2025 that Governor Sanwo-Olu submitted to lawmakers the previous Thursday.

During the session led by Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, the bill was forwarded to a joint committee on appropriation and finance for detailed examination, with a one-month deadline for reporting back.

Previously, Hon. Sa’ad Olumoh, Chairman of the House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, provided a summary of the proposed budget, breaking down the expenditures.

Olumoh expressed concerns regarding a projected deficit of ₦408 billion in the budget, reminding members that loans can be beneficial when applied correctly. He stated: “We must approach this cautiously and ensure we have a sustainable strategy for financing our budget, avoiding total reliance on loans.”

“I suggest we aim for a realistic budget and explore alternative financing options such as Public Private Partnerships.”

“Let’s also be diligent in our review of the 2025 budget to minimize wastage,” he urged his fellow legislators, while praising the government’s intentions expressed in the budget estimates.
