President Bola Tinubu
President Bola Tinubu has announced the establishment of a Disaster Relief Fund aimed at managing the rising number of natural disasters throughout the country.
This information was shared with the press by Wale Edun, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy.
He pointed out that with the likelihood of events like the Maiduguri flooding becoming commonplace due to climate change, it is essential to have specialized funding to address the related challenges effectively.
It is important to note that Maiduguri in Borno State recently faced severe flooding that affected half of the city, resulting in casualties and significant damage to essential infrastructure.
Edun reassured that the Federal Government is committed to seeking support from key stakeholders to adequately fund the Disaster Relief Fund.
